Eat your veggies. Listen to Two Door Cinema Club.

Sorry, didn't mean to hit you with two pearls of wisdom right off the bat......well, actually..I did.

Both are extremely important and 3-5 servings a day are recommended. But it's probably easier to do the latter, so we'll start there.

What do you get when you mix vocal clarity that Ben Gibbard would envy, dance-rock drums that make Franz Ferdinand shake in their kilts, and bass that makes my head bob n' shake like no seizure could hope to?

I'll give you a clue: I'm not talking about broccoli.

Like a delicious stir-fry, Two Door Cinema Club takes these ingredients and blends them into one hell of a debut.

Is the production as slick as the dialogue in an Ocean's 11-13 movie? Yes.
Does this self-titled tour de force push you four-on-the-floor from start to finish? You betcha.
Do I hear any negatives? Don't think so.

On that note, enjoy their first single, "What You Know" while you find the quickest way to obtain their album and integrate it into your daily music consumption.

And oh yeah.....start eating your greens.

Rise Against -- Alive and Well

We went to see the Foo Fighters at the Palace of Auburn Hills this past Monday.

Very good show.

The openers were pretty amazing acts, and almost outdid the Foo. Actually, in my opinion they might have succeeded in outdoing the Foo by show intensity standards.

Mariachi El Bronx was a fun surprise, and Rise Against put on one hell of a high-energy show.

I am definitely a fan of this band now, while before I was just a marginal fan.

Dinosaur Jr. - Start Choppin'

Dinosaur Jr. is the type of band that's good for a peel out. If you ever do those. Personally, I rarely do peel outs. I just accelerate a bit faster than usual when DJ is on.

Enjoy.

Work Hard, Rock Hard & Have Fun.

Hey all. Hope you've been enjoying the song o' the day sort of posts....been dipping the ladle into the nostalgia pot and serving up some awesome tunes. Thanks Dave.

This one's a little bit of an update on the present state of PMS. We have been lucky enough to cross paths with drummer/entrepreneur/scene reviver, Shawn. That's a pretty long title, so we'll just stick to "Mr. Detroit".

Hot off a couple of excellent writing/practice sessions at Shawn's place of business, Groovebox Studios, we're psyched to have found a new home. Nestled right in the art epicenter of Detroit, The Russell, it's been an awesome creative space to really get things cooking. And we have been whipping up quite the batch of fresh, tasty tunes for your consumption.

For those of you following along at home, it's a simple recipe:
1 part pop
1 part rock
2 scoops love songs
1 TB of technology references
3 heaps of wit
1 crapton of caffeine

Let bake at 475 degrees for not too long and we'll be serving it up at a show near you.

I can already anticipate questions about where to get a "crapton" of caffeine. I would naturally start with Vitamin Java as a base and then work in whatever other energy drink/pop mix tickles your fancy.

We prefer Faygo. See ya soon.

Pearl Jam -- Dissident

This song is in my head today.

Give it up for the wonderfulness that is Pearl Jam.

Such a great band.

Definitely a big influence for a few members of PMS.

Annuals -- Brother

Annuals -- an underrated band if you ask me.

They have the great ability of making their sound feel epic and uncontrolled, yet very much perfected.

This is the first track off of their album "Be He Me" which came out back in 2006. Check it out if you haven't already.

Dinosaur Jr. - Feel The Pain

Friend of mine just posted this to FB, figure I would share it here.

Dinosaur Jr. is one of my all-time favorites. This video is a fun one:

Staying Productive

Staying Productive -- exactly what we've been doing.

While one member is actively seeking new ventures for the band, the other is busy with the daily grind.

But, as this band has plainly stated -- such is life, or is it?

The catch is being productive in your work and life because you love to do it and can't fathom doing it any other way. This project is exactly that.

Here's a good tune to jump-start you into the Labor Day weekend:
